Exploring the Prevalence of Protective Measure Adoption in Mosques during the COVID-19 Pandemic in Indonesia

Muslims worship together more frequently than members of other religions. They pray in congregation at the mosque five times a day, causing to become central hub for COVID-19 transmission. Therefore, adoption protective measures as method mitigating pandemic mosques is vital. This study aims account implementation status Surakarta City, Indonesia, during pandemic. A cross-sectional survey was conducted using structured questionnaire sent caretakers research participants. The were chosen simple random sampling technique total sample 247 City. Participants asked how often they implement following mosques, recommended by Majelis Ulama Indonesia: checking body temperature before entering mosque, prayer distancing, carrying own mat, wearing mask when praying and no handshaking after prayer. prevalence revealed be amongst 44.6% 92.6%, with lowest mosque. Overall, only 33.7% implemented all measures. In affiliated Nahdlatul small lower Muhammadiyah large respectively, suggesting that it crucial develop targeted health messages these groups.
